5 - I have an SSD as a second drive in my laptop. Best performance is putting the program directory and data directory on it, but moving the notes temp view rebuild directory to a spinning disk (via ini parameter).

My 8.5.x client also starts in under 5 seconds on a 32bit CORE DUO (not core2) processor.

10 - @5: Andrew, you made me buy an Intel X25 SSD, using my Thinkpad T60p (2GB RAM, Intel T2600 @ 2.1GHz) I can confirm 5 seconds to start (cold startup after booting OS).
